Janurary 21-24

Hi Families,

I hope you all had a great long weekend!  The weather was amazing for this time of year.  It was kind of shock when I went outside this morning to temps that felt below zero!

Here are some upcoming reminders:

Thurs., Feb. 6-- 3rd Grade International Festival and Taste Fest
Tues., Feb. 11-- Field Trip to the Kansas City Symphony
                          Valentine's Day Party
Wed., Feb 12 and Thurs., Feb. 13-- Student-Led Conferences
Thurs. Feb. 12-Mon., Feb. 17-- NO SCHOOL- President's Weekend

International Festival--
We are still looking for a few more volunteers to help us prepare for the International Festival and Taste Fest.  We will be having a short meeting later this week.  If you are interested in helping out with this event, please let me know and I will give you the meeting information.

Reading/ Writing/ Social Studies--
Students will spend the rest of this week doing research about the country they are studying.  They are learning how to take notes on notecards.  They put 1 fact per card.  Once the research is complete they will learn how to organize the notecards.

Math--
We started Topic 10 today about fractions comparisons and equivalence.  Students will learn how to compare fractions based on common denominators, numerators and by using number lines.

Spelling--
Students received their Geography spelling/vocabulary list last week and will have their final test this Friday.

Read to Feed--
Students should continue reading and logging the number of minutes that they read.

Have a great week!!
