March 5-9

Hi Families,

I am so excited for this NORMAL week of learning!!

This Thursday is the last day of the 3rd quarter!  Students do not have school on Friday.  Spring Break is next week.  School resumes on March 19th.

We have 2 weeks of review time left before we take Math State Assessments.  3rd grade assessments are scheduled March 27-29.

We will bid farewell to Mrs. Gonser at the end of this week.  She will be working in the Turner school district for the remainder of the school year for her second student teaching placement.  She has done a WONDERFUL job with your children and has really enjoyed getting to know each of them.

R-E-W-A-R-D
The students have gone and done it again!!!  They have earned another reward party.  We will combine this party with a Farewell party for Mrs. Gonser on Thursday afternoon.  The students have elected to have a game party.  They are allowed to bring a snack to share and any electronic/card/board games that they would like to play.

Reading
We will complete Theme 10 this week, Money Matters.  Our reading focus for this unit has been identifying the author's purpose for writing.
We will also resume our regular small reading groups this week.

Spelling
The spelling pattern this week is "action verbs".
The SUFFIX pattern thsi week is "-able" which means 'able to be'.
Tests will be given on Thursday.  The lists will be in Monday folders.

Math
We will complete Topic 15 about Liquid Volume and Mass with our test on Thursday.

Social Studies
We have been studying economics and this week we will finish this unit by using a fun website that will help the students learn about starting a business.

Writing
We have completed our graphic organizers for our Autobiographies.  This week we will be writing out each page of our autobiographies into paragraph form.

Let me know if you have any questions.  Have a great week!
