October 23-26

Hi Families,

Wow!!  I love how amazing the solar houses turned out!  Your kiddos did such a great job!  I hope they had fun doing this project and learned a lot about solar energy in the process.  The houses will be on display in the 3rd grade pod so if you are at the school in the next few weeks, stop by and take a look at all of their great work.

The students earned their first REWARD party.  Every time the class demonstrates greatness as a group they recieve a letter towards the word REWARD.  They finally earned the "D" last week.  Which means it is time for a reward party.  Since we just finished reading Charlotte'sWeb, the class will be viewing the movie this Friday afternoon.  The boys and girls are welcome to bring snacks to munch on during the movie.  They also asked about having some bacon, in honor of Wilbur.  Would anybody like to cook some bacon up for the class?

Here is what we will be working on the rest of this week:
Reading:
We will be completing Theme 13 this week. The students will monitor what they read in order to better understand each text. 

Writing:
Students have been writing a description and will be ready to revise and edit their work this week.

Spelling:
Our spelling lists this week contain pronouns.  Remember a pronoun is a word that substitutes a noun in a sentence.  The test will be on Friday.

Social Studies:
It's ELECTION time!!  The students will be nominating candidates to run for class president and will be campaigning this week.  To go along with the nation's election, we will be holding a class election next Tuesday, as well.
